Listen: Jacob Koopman releases latest single
You may have seen Jacob Koopman busking it up on Grafton Street or elsewhere around Dublin, where he’s been living for the last four years. Over the years, Koopman, a native of both Holland and Indonesia, has been finding himself on bigger stages, with slots around the festival circuit including appearances at Castlepalooza and Electric Picnic. This past weekend, Koopman headlined the Button Factory for the release of his latest single, ‘MGCTRX’ (short for “Magic Tricks”). Combining guitar skills with sultry vocals, the track escalates from coffee shop acoustic to techno jam.
Saturday’s Button Factory gig proved it’s time for Koopman to move up to bigger stages than Grafton Street, with a band behind him to create a full sound. If you’ve caught a bit of Koopman’s covers when you’re out and about Dublin, you’ll want to take a listen to some of his original stuff. Watch the video for “MGCTRX” below.
