Lil Nas X pleads not guilty to assault charges
A Los Angeles Judge set the rappers bail for $75,000
Lil Nas X has pleaded not guilty to assault charges, after police said he assaulted officers who approached him in LA on Thursday.
Prosecutors charged the rapper, whose legal name is Montero Lamar Hill with three counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer.
The singer's bail was set for $75,000. He is also required to attend narcotics anonymous meetings, as the police believe he was on drugs at the time of the incident. His attorney Christy O'Connor said that Lil Nas was not taking illegal drugs and that the incident was an anomaly.
The rapper was arrested on suspicion of obstructing an officer. He was apprehended while walking down Ventura Boulevard naked and then charged at police officers. After the incident police took him to the hospital for a possible overdose, where he stayed for several hours, before being moved to jail, where he spent the weekend.
Lil Nas X has won two Grammy's for his hit song Old Town Road in 2019 with Billy Ray Cyrus. He was the first openly gay man to receive the Country Music Association award for the hit.
His anticipated second studio album, Dreamboy is due to drop in later this year.
