Laughing Down Crying
Mor legend refuses to stray off the beaten path
That American MOR icon Daryl Hall is still in the game might surprise some. The man who co-wrote monstrous tracks such as ‘Maneater’ (as part of Hall and Oates back in the ‘80s) is back with a new solo record and it’s a collection of classic, pop rock cuts that will doubtless appeal to his long-time fans. ‘Lifetime Of Love,’ ‘Message To Ya’ and more aim for a timeless quality, but there is more than a whiff of sentimentality in evidence on the likes of ‘Eyes For You’. However individual tracks might sound on teh radio, as an album Laughing Down Cying makes Cliff Richard seem edgy in comparison.
