Kabin Crew release new single 'Lunchbox Flex'
The youth collective created the track as part of the Lidl Foodies programme.
Youth music collective Kabin Crew have released a new single ‘Lunchbox Flex’.
The Cork-based hip-hop group created the track as part of Lidl Foodies, a new free national education programme launched by Lidl Ireland that “aims to help children aged four to seven develop positive relationships with fruit and vegetables through practical learning,” according to a press release.
The song is backed by a music video filmed at the Kabin Studio in Lidl Charleville and the Lidl Farm in Co Kildare.
Kabin Crew, established in 2012 by producer Gary McCarthy, is a collective of young rappers, singers, songwriters and creatives based at The Kabin Studio, a not-for-profit creative arts hub on Cork’s Northside.
"One of the Kabin Studio’s core priorities is supporting the wellbeing of young people," said Garry McCarthy, creative director of The Kabin Studio. “We believe creativity plays a huge role in building confidence, resilience and a sense of belonging, but we also recognise how important physical activity and healthy eating are in helping young people feel their best.”
In 2024, their song ‘The Spark’, with the Lisdoonvarna Crew, amassed over two billion social media views, was longlisted for the 2025 Grammy Awards and won the RTÉ Choice Music Prize Irish Song of the Year.
Last winter, they performed Kabin Crew Live: The Sound of the Northside, a collaboration with the Irish National Opera Orchestra, with sets across Galway, Dublin and Navan.
