Johnny Cash musical to come to Dublin

The Ballad of Johnny & June musical is set for Dublin's Bord Gáis Energy Theatre from March 31 - April 11, 2026.
The production tells the love story of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash and is packed with the couple's hits, including 'I Walk the Line', 'Ring of Fire', 'Folsom Prison Blues', 'Hey Porter', 'Jackson' and 'I’ve Been Everywhere'.
The musical is told through the eyes of their son, John Carter Cash, and was directed by two-time Tony Award winner Des McAnuff, who previously worked on Jersey Boys, The Who’s Tommy and Summer: The Donna Summer Musical.
Johnny Cash was one of the best-selling artist's of all time, with over 90 million records sold worldwide.
The American singer was inducted into the Country Music, Rock and Roll and Gospel Music Halls of Fame.
June Carter Cash, Johnny Cash's second wife, was a five-time Grammy Award winner. In 2025, she was named a posthumous inductee into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
The couple released their duet song 'Jackson' in 1967 before putting out their collaborative album Carryin' On with Johnny Cash & June Carter later that year.
