The latest JNLR book brought good news for Dublin alternative station TXFM, with 22,000 people tuning into the station every day as opposed to the 15,000 who listened to its Marconi House predecessor, Phantom 105.2.
“We are naturally delighted with the initial response from real music fans in Dublin to the station,” enthuses TXFM Chairman Trevor Bowen. “We’ve carved out a great position in a highly competitive market of FM and digital audio options that we will now build on.”
TXFM now has a 2% weekday adult Dublin market share with Sunshine 106.8 at 3%, Classic Hits 4FM at 4%, Radio Nova at 5%, Q102 9%, 98FM 10%, Spin 1038 13% and FM104 top of the pile at 18%.
Nationally, RTE Radio 1 is top dog with 24%, Today FM has 13%, 2fm and Newstalk 10% and Lyric 4%.
Crunching the numbers elsewhere, Neil Prendeville and KC’s arrival at Red FM finds the station up 2% to 19% while the former’s old employer, Cork’s 96 FM, drops 4% to 47%.
Radio 1’s Morning Ireland remains the most listened to show in the country with 438,000 tuning in every day. Pat Kenny is up 20,000 to 134,000, but his Newstalk slot is still well behind its direct Radio 1 rival, Sean O’Rourke, who despite a drop of 4,000 still commands a 307,000 audience.
Over at 2fm, Nicky Byrne and Jenny Greene have nudged ahead of Ryan Tubridy with 145,000 listeners as opposed to his 144,000 while Breakfast Republic has shed 14,000 listeners.
There are big gains for Anton Savage’s Savage Sunday on Today FM, which is up 13,000, and for Beat 102-103 in Waterford who’s weekday listenership is up 2% to a record high of 19%.
