James Corden to Host the 2017 Grammys
The Late Late Show star will host the Grammys in February
You've seen him singing with various celebrities from Sia to Michelle Obama in his car, but now James Corden is heading for a much bigger musical event, the 2017 Grammys. Rapper LL Cool J has hosted the awards show for the past four years, but will now be passing the honour onto Corden. Recording Academy President CEO Neil Portnow released a statement saying, “Thanks to ‘Carpool Karaoke,’ we’ve all been on some incredible rides with James, and The Recording Academy couldn’t be more excited to welcome his passion and enthusiasm for music, both as an entertainer and a fan, to the Grammy stage on Feb. 12. He’s got big shoes to fill after the magnificent run we had with LL Cool J, but James Corden is a commanding, dynamic showman who, we believe, is perfect to host the GRAMMY Awards.”
Corden released his own statement, saying “I am truly honored to be hosting The Grammys next year. It’s the biggest, most prestigious award show in music and I feel incredibly lucky to be part of such an incredible night.”
Aside from his acclaimed Carpool Karaoke segments, the Late Late Show host has already proven his musical talents by hosting the Tony Awards this past year. He has performed on Broadway, and also starred in the film adaptation of Into the Woods. The Grammys will be held on February 12, 2017.
