James Blake shares mellow rendition of Nirvana classic 'Come As You Are'
James Blake also performed a cover of Joni Mitchell‘s ‘A Case of You’ on The Late Late Show in the US back in May.
British singer-songwriter James Blake has released a quarantine cover of Nirvana's classic hit 'Come As You Are' as a special treat to his fans.
Blake has previously shared original covers by Radiohead, Frank Ocean, Joni Mitchell, Billie Eilish and has now reimagined the iconic song by '90s indie-rock band Nirvana.
The ethereal performance was part of an hour-long “piano improv concert” streamed on Blake's Instagram Live on Saturday evening.
His rendition of the Nevermind single was softer in tone and significantly reduced in volume compared to Nirvana's version - as requested by a fan.
Donations collected during Blake's virtual event will benefit The Loveland Foundation, which support Black women and girls, as well as Brown communities.
The Grammy Award winning artist shared his last single, 'You’re Too Precious', back in April and hinted that work on a new album was already underway.
Collaborative track ‘Barefoot In The Park', by James Blake featuring ROSALÍA, heavily features a sample from an old Irish folk song.
‘Fil Fil a Run’ was recorded by singer Valerie Armstrong all the way back in 1971.
Blake’s last studio LP, the magnetic Assume Form, dropped in early 2019.
Ed Power of Hot Press described Assume Form as Blakes "most approachable LP yet, his dawn chorus vocals and depth-charge beats put in the service of what are essentially straightforward ballads."
