Is It Ok To Be Loud, Jesus?
Bloody fantastic.
Listening to this Limerick duo’s debut album is something akin to being battered round the head with a plank of wood for half an hour. It is, though, bloody fantastic.
The pace is unrelenting, dropping only occasionally to throw in the odd Fugazi style bass line on ‘Marmite Walk’ or rockabilly guitar on ‘Phats’. A lyric sheet wouldn’t have gone amiss either – there’s obviously a ranging anger at work here but I’m buggered if I can work out what they’re ranging against, so dense is the sound.
Quibbles are few though and this is easily up there with Berkley as one of the Irish punk rock releases of the year.
