Irish Singer Donna Taggart Achieves Social Media Stardom
When Donna Taggart released the music video for her single "Jealous of the Angels," on Facebook she had no idea it would go viral on the social media site with over 54 million views. The song's success on Facebook led to it climbing to the top of the iTunes charts across the world, in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, USA, Ireland and the UK. The song was written by Jenn Bostic after the tragic death of her father.
Taggart's 2011 album Celtic Lady Vol. 1 was promoted by Gerry Anderson of BBC Radio. The single from that album, "Bright Blue Rose," was a popular wedding song, and so Taggart began performing at weddings.
In 2013, she released Celtic Lady Vol. 2, and was then invited to perform on the Ireland West Music TV Christmas show. Her most recent single is "Mom," which she performed for Mother's Day last year. Following the massive success of "Jealous of the Angels," Taggart plans to embark on her first solo tour next year, with a gig at the National Concert hall on February 26. Tickets are on sale now. You can watch the viral video for "Jealous of the Angels" below.
