Inspiral Carpets Drummer, Craig Gills, Passes Away
We mourn another inspirational musician this November.
Craig Gill, one of the founding members of the Manchester-based band Inspiral Carpets, died at the young age of 44 this past week. He joined the band in 1986 when he was only 14, and played with them throughout the 90s during their peak time in the 'Madchester' music movement.
Aside from drumming, Gill showed his wealth of music knowledge and set up his own business, Manchester Music Tours, and guided visitors around Manchester to iconic music locations where bands like The Smith and Oasis played.
His band members commented on how “He was the beating heart of the Inspirals in more ways than one.” Others inspired by Inspiral Carpets recently commented on the drummer's death as well. Liam Gallagher, who's brother Noel was a roadie for Inspiral Carpets, tweeted,"Stunned by the news of the death of Gilly my heart goes out to his family and band members LIVE FOREVER LG x."
