Imelda May adds another Dublin date to her tour, releases new single
Her new single, ‘Black Tears,’ is available today.
Imelda May has added yet another date to her run of gigs coming up in Dublin this May. She'll be performing at Bord Gais Energy Theatre, Dublin, from May 29-31. Tickets for this new gig on May 31 will go on sale at 9am Friday February 3. The new shows will include the biggest band lineup from any of her tours, combining some of her fan favourite musicians with newcomers. The tour will follow the release of her new album, Life Love Flesh Blood, which will be released April 7. The new single from the album, "Black Tears," was released today.
With the new album, May has created her most honest material yet. She describes the album as a diary, and though the music crosses genre boundaries, it's above all a soul record, in more ways than one. With these new, honest lyrics, May bares her soul to the audience in a way that she hasn't before.
She acknowledges the new record as an opportunity to separate her true self from her stage persona. “I always loved the Fifties rockabilly style but there was a point where I felt I was almost dressing up as Imelda May," she says. "It was as if I was getting into character for a gig. And I didn’t want to do that anymore. This is me.”
Tickets for the new gig will go on sale next week, with tickets for the whole U.K and Ireland tour available now. Listen to "Black Tears" below.
