I Put A Record On
With a background in Berlin’s punk scene, it’s no wonder that Gudrun Gut has released an album that combines the organic with the electronic.
With a background in Berlin’s punk scene, it’s no wonder that Gudrun Gut has released an album that combines the organic with the electronic. The spacey, shuffly techno of ‘Move Me’, with its lyrics about being ‘shot to pieces like a Patsy Kline’, is a pop hit in waiting. Swinging of a different nature is audible on ‘Cry Easy’ and ‘Girlboogie 6’, which take inspiration from Berlin’s pre-War jazz clubs as much as the soundtrack to the city’s current all-night venues. All told, this album is pretty gut.
