SHEER DANCE GENIUS FROM FORWARD-LOOKING, FIERCELY HIP BROOKLYN DUO
LCD Soundsystem may have bitten the dust but James Murphy’s legacy lives on in the shape of DFA Records. One of their most exciting protégés trade under the moniker of Holy Ghost! As with James Murphy’s mob, the Brooklyn duo are fiercely hip. That’s where the similarities end however.
Stand-out track ‘Dumb Disco Ideas’ doesn’t live down to its title: rather, it is a slice of sheer bloody dance genius. It weighs in at a hefty eight minutes, but there isn’t a dull second. It’s deservedly been championed as a cracking summer tune with a seasonal chorus as catchy as a cold.
While overall the ‘80s looms large – Talk Talk and Duran Duran influences abound – Dynamics is thoroughly forward looking too. Holy Ghost! offer a welcome glimpse into the future. I’m lookng forward to it...
