Hi Fidelity House: Imprint 3
Chicago house label Guidance have a bit of a following amongst “those who know”. And why not? Apart from a couple of misses, their output is generally on-point in a very non-threatening kind of way.
Chicago house label Guidance have a bit of a following amongst “those who know”. And why not? Apart from a couple of misses, their output is generally on-point in a very non-threatening kind of way. And this little compilation is intended as a round up of what the label’s about: music from the deeper furrows of dance.
Even though most of the tracks are two-or-so years old, it’s still worth the spin. All the regulars are present and correct – Kevin Yost, Dub Tribe, King Britt and Ursula Rucker remixed by Jazzanova and Chris Wamdue – giving a different spin on disco, dub, jazz and latin vibes in a deep house stylee. Most notheowrthy are the Jazzanova remix, Yost’s contribution and a retro funk jam from NuSpirit Helsinki.
The problem with this kind of deepness is that it can be too inoffensive and too “samey” for most – and as fans will have most of the twelves, it’s hard to see who this will appeal to outside of the vinyl market. Then again, if you’re looking for an introduction into the world of deep house, it’s not a bad place to start.
