Graham Parker announces new live album
The English singer-songwriter is best known as the lead singer of Graham Parker & the Rumour.
Graham Parker is celebrating 50 years of recorded works with the release of his new live album, Quality Footwear: Live at the Brooks.
Out June 26, it features his current backing band, The Goldtops, and new performances of classics dating back to his first album Howlin' Wind (1976), through his most recent originals, Last Chance To Learn The Twist (2023).
Parker started his career in 1975 by placing ads in magazines to find backing musicians for his acoustic demo tapes. This led him to manager Dave Robinson, who recruited artists from the UK pub-rock scene to form his backing band, The Rumour.
The band combined pub rock with tight instrumentation. Their early albums, Howlin' Wind and Stick to Me, earned them a cult following.
The release of the album, also comes with news of a biography. Graham Parker's Howlin' Wind by author Jay Nachman features interviews with Parker and his bandmates on their memories of recording the debut.
