Dutch label Delsin have been putting out limited edition EPs for the last five years, but Life is their first CD release. Geared towards the non-vinyl buying public, the compilation shows that Delsin assumed the ‘intelligent techno’ tag cats off by labels like Warp. Indeed, ‘Life’ is teeming with the kind of gloriously polished, laid back, ‘listening’ electronic music that typified the Sheffield label’s ‘Intelligent’ compilation series; taking its cue from the deep, musical visions of Detroit, each track here is like a head nodding paean to the motor City’s rich sonic legacy. The sublime sound of techno soul putting its feet up for a quiet night in.
