Gnarls Barkley announce final album Atlanta, release ‘Pictures’
The album, set to be their last, is the first from the group in 18 years
Gnarls Barkley have announced their final album Atlanta, and released a new single ‘Pictures’.
The album is the first record in 18 years from the Grammy Award winning duo, though both DJ Danger Mouse and singer CeeLo Green have released music independently since then. Their last two albums, St. Elsewhere and The Odd Couple, were released in 2006 and 2008, respectively.
The album, which is set to contain 13 tracks, will be released on March 6.
‘Pictures’, the first single to be released from the album, is based on Green’s childhood in Atlanta, and his experience riding the MARTA train and looking out the window.
“I had a middle school principal who, every Friday, would tell me to go when I would get to school,” said Green. “I was in eighth grade and I would leave school and ride the train alone from 8 A.M. until 2:30 P.M.”
‘Pictures’ is out now, and Atlanta is available to pre-save.
