Forever So
Aussie folksters unveil forgettable new album
Antipodean folkies Husky new album Forever So is a pleasant outing but it is not exactly required listening. The band’s head honcho Husky Gawenda has got a pure vocal tone that lifts the likes of ‘History’s Door’ and ‘Dark Sea,’ and the record is full of pretty melodies, pleasing finger-picked guitars and hippy harmonies. But ultimately, you can’t escape the feeling that you’ve heard it all before. If you’re heavily into the indie-folk thing, then you’ll likely enjoy the Simon & Garfunkel-tinges of ‘Animals & Freaks’, among othger nuances – but, unless something strange happens, the wider public are unlikely to get excited.
