Feels So Good
Another exercise in indentikit pop from the Stargate production line
So what the hell happened here then? One moment Atomic Kitten looked to be safely consigned to the world of girl group also rans, alongside Girl Thing, Sister To Sister and a host of others. Next it’s number ones, arena tours and Ivor Novello awards. Despite all this (and the fact that ‘Whole Again’ was an undeniably fine record) there’s still something inherently wrong about Atomic Kitten.
On Feels So Good ‘It’s OK!’ is another exercise in indentikit pop from the Stargate production line, and is no less enjoyable for that. Yet it is the only real highlight amongst the album’s 14 tracks.
There are several attempts to repeat that particular formula, notably the not unpleasant ‘Water On The Water’ and the entirely point missing cover of ‘The Tide Is High’. Elsewhere, Kylie-approved high-energy disco abounds, with Minogue herself contributing the title track.
But not even this can save the album from deteriorating into a characterless mush.
