Drum Major Instinct
Attica Blues have been low profile of late, mainly because they have been huddled in a studio writing and recording their third album, setting up a new label and hosting a new club night in London.
Attica Blues have been low profile of late, mainly because they have been huddled in a studio writing and recording their third album, setting up a new label and hosting a new club night in London. Amidst all this activity, the duo have found the time to put together their debut mix CD, Drum Major Instinct. Shifting styles from the jazz influenced hip-hop of Gangstarr and Jamose to Paul Hardcastle’s electro pop, Imagination’s original disco, NY Housing Authority’s pioneering deep house and Basement Jaxx collaborator Corina Joseph’s soulful breaks jam, Drum Major Instinct comes across more like a personal mix tape than a full on club friendly CD but is nonetheless an impeccably programmed mix.
