Double Figure
it’s business as usual from Ed and Andy
Much of Warp’s most recent work – especially albums by Chris Clark and Autechre - have left a lot to be desired, so it must have come as a relief to the Sheffield based label when Plaid delivered their latest album.
Granted, it’s business as usual from Ed and Andy, and, though much of Double Figure sounds like the kind of off centre melodic techno their previous incarnation, Plaid used to make. So, while their latest album won’t break any boundaries, Double Figure sees Plaid hone their art, perfect their sense of melody and drop a succession of quirky, intricate tracks that you can rest assured their loyal fan base will adore. Result.
