Disco Volante
Cinerama is a somewhat more polished version of frontman Dave Gedge's former band, The Wedding Present. This album was produced by the legendary Steve Albini, and although it has a well-crafted feel to it, the songs never really take off.

While not quite as energetic or dramatic as, for example, The Divine Comedy, Cinerama seem to vie for the same territory. All the songs have that element of restrained, stylish emotion but despite the conversation-style vocals and the strings and flute backing up the heavy guitars, they fail to create any real interest.
Disco Volante is a testament to the fact that you really cannot turn water into wine, not even with Steve Albini as your guide.
