It sounds like Dido. Sorry to be so blunt, but we may as well get it out of the way right at the start. Details is an album of elegant, adult pop with a slight electronic bent and a familiar sounding female vocal. Not that it’s that bad, mind, just not hugely original.
The single ‘Breathe In’ has a nice skank feel to it and there are some pleasant touches throughout, nods to the more street sounds of drum ‘n’ bass and dance. In fact, it’s hard to find very much wrong with Details. Problem is, sat here staring at this damn blank screen, it’s equally hard to find much right with it.
Frou Frou make a perfectly nice noise, but where are the thrills? Maybe they’re too caught up in their own pretentious imagery but, amidst the pristine production, catchy songs and clever titles (‘Maddening Shroud’, ‘The Dumbing Down Of Love’), someone forgot about passion, excitement and all the other things that make the best pop music so vital.

Another one for the thanks, but no thanks pile.
