The Blur frontman has just taken part in celebrating 90 years of the BBC.
Damon Albarn has debuted ‘2LO Calling’ – echoes of The Clash, eh? – “a snapshot of the airwaves” commissioned by the BBC to celebrate its 90th birthday.
“There’s a special musicality to some of the vocal messages, which I tried to preserve,” Albarn reflects. “Added to that, I got to do what I've always wanted – to play along with the (time) pips.”
2LO was the callsign of the corporation’s first transmitter way back in 1922.
Anyone expecting a Blur-ian knees-up will be disappointed, with the three-minute sound collage having more in common with his recent operatic endeavours.

Personally, we reckon that whatever the Beeb stumped up is too much, but you might think differently!
