Cream drummer Ginger Baker in critical condition, family reveals

Ginger Baker's family revealed via his official Twitter account that the Cream drummer was hospitalised and is currently in a critical condition.

The tweet reads, "The Baker family are sad to announce that Ginger is critically ill in hospital. Please keep him in your prayers tonight."

Ginger Baker is probably most famous for co-founding the rock band Cream with Eric Clapton. He was also a frequent collaborator of Fela Kuti with whom he recorded three acclaimed albums. As a pioneer of jazz fusion, heavy metal and world music drumming, he was crowned the third greatest drummer of all time by Rolling Stone.

In 2016, Baker announced that he suffers from "serious heart issues". He had to undergo open heart surgery in July of that same year.
