Charles Byrne Musik Instrumente
21-22 Stephen Street Lower, Dublin 2
Tel : (01) 478 1773
This charming music shop, specialising in stringed instruments and traditional Irish music, is positively steeped in heritage – and therefore in a big part of what makes the Creative Quarter so unique. It was founded by the first Charlie Byrne in 1870 and has been kept alive through four generations, making it Ireland’s oldest family run music shop. The building itself is a listed heritage site and a local landmark that has seen many of Ireland’s formative historical events such as Home Rule, the Easter Rising, the War of Independence and the Civil War. They offer unrivalled musical expertise and a plethora of instruments ranging from violas, cellos and mandalins to bodhrans Irish wooden flutes, guitars and more inbetween.
