Caoi de Barra to perform two sold-out acoustic shows in Kildare
Wyvern Lingo’s percussionist and vocalist will take to the Ubh Café in Newbridge for two solo performances, with support from ELLYD
Caoi de Barra, while being best known as one third of Wyvern Lingo, has a built up a body of brilliantly observed original songs as a solo artist. Her rich and soulful voice will fill every crevice of Kildare’s Ubh Café on May 10 and 11.
ELLYD, the support act for both nights, is an Irish singer-songwriter with an incredibly unique voice. Each show will be enhanced by her distinctive, emotive sounds, setting the scene perfectly for Caoi.
Ubh Café will provide a picturesque, intimate setting for the gig. The café is known for creating an environment that promotes a happy, healthy and sustainable lifestyle while allowing live music to thrive within the community.
Speaking on the talents of Caoi, Hot Press’ very own Pat Carty has said, “It’s hard to understand why a different “foreign” R&B mess gets flung up the pop charts every week when we have people like Caoimhe Barry and Wyvern Lingo at home, making records of a similar bent only much better. If the likes of Beyoncé or Rhianna released anything nearly as good as ‘Out Of My Hands’, ‘Crawl’ or chorus-from-the-Gods ‘Maybe It’s My Nature’, it would be an instant world-wide smash from which no one could escape.” High praise indeed.
Ubh Café is located at 2 George’s Street, Newbridge, Kildare.
