Broken
Remix masters reprise mark lanegan collaboration for third album.
Broken is the third collection of original material from British re-mixers Rich Machin and Ian Glover and it’s easily their best yet. As with their previous effort It’s Not Hard To Fall, It’s The Way You Land, much of the vocal duties are performed by the mighty Mark Lanegan (does old whiskey throat ever take time off?), but there are also some guest appearances by fellow gloomy types like Richard Hawley (‘Shadows Fall’) Jason Pierce (‘Pharaoh’s Chariot’) and Mike Patton (‘Unbalanced Pieces’). The former Screaming Trees frontman is still the star of the show, though. Lanegan could sing the phonebook and make it seem like the most dramatic and beautiful thing you’ve ever heard. Standout track is the (not so) cheery waltz ‘You Will Miss Me When I Burn’, possibly the finest thing the singer has ever recorded.
