More musicians have joined the ‘lettergate’ debate, with all of them so far taking Sinéad O’Connor’s side.
Niall Breslin, who’s spoken openly about his own struggle with anxiety, says: “Miley Cyrus’ reply to Sinéad O'Connor once again manages to reinforce the stigma on mental health. Miley indeed is a horrible human being” and then adds: “Dear fans of Miley, you can indeed support her music but please don't condone this behaviour regardless of your fondness for her as an artist" and "If Miley and her management wanted to see how a (artistic) transformation is done properly look at Kylie. And she kept her dignity."
Elsewhere, Rizzle Kicks observe, “Wow, turns out @MileyCyrus is an idiot” and then continue, "Isn't it a little weird to cite someone as an influence and then disregard their opinion?"; Katy B asks, “Woahhh, Sinead O'Connor can you be my aunty please?”; The Rubberbandits weigh in with, “Ahhh @MileyCyrus leave Sineád off will you, she's pure open about her mental health issues. Bad form and bullying, she's a legend” and Boy George writes, “I just read someone saying 'Sinéad is jealous of Miley.’ God bless Miley but Sinéad sings her out of the stratosphere and beyond! Irish soul!” and “Ooh, checked out Miley's profile, kinda nasty stuff about Sinéad when she was just being nice? I need a shower! Ugh.”
