Double platinum artist Ane Brun compiles her past decade of groundbreaking, mesmerising work into one compilation album, Songs 2013-2023, complete with a new track, 'Hand In The Fire,' before she goes on her 20th Anniversary Tour this year.

A decade ago, the Scandinavian artist Ane Brun released Songs 2003-2013 to celebrate her first ten years in the spotlight. Now, music producer and singer has shared plans for a follow-up compilation album: Songs 2013-2023.

The announcement comes with the haunting yet riveting music video for Ane Brun's new single, 'Hand In The Fire.' Between Brun's captivating dancing and enthralling eye-contact with the camera, Ane speaks to the inner desire to reach out and grasp the future with open hands, even if it meaning placing a hand in the fire.

"Tell me, honestly / Are you truly free? / Come on baby, you're a star~"

"This video would not exist without my experience with '12 Songs' in 2023 with the Gothenburg Opera Dance company," Ane recalled, reflecting on the stage performance for music, orchestra and dance by Kenneth Kvarnström that influenced 'Hand In The Fire.'

"It was a very special experience for me. I was surrounded by these world class dancers on stage, and I performed the orchestral versions of my own music at the same time as I was an integral part of the choreography. It became the most amazing artistic challenge of my career so far."

The single came to life in Tuscan garden back in 2022 as Ane was sketching while propped up on her Martin guitar, "accompanied by birds singing and a hot Italian sun." A continuation of 'Take Hold Of Me' from After The Great Storm and produced by Samuel Starck, 'Hand In The Fire' asks the important questions about living life to the fullest: "What is it to be completely you, to be completely free?"

"So when we were producing a music video to the new track 'Hand in the Fire,'" Ane continues, "I wanted to invite some of the dancers to express the inner complexity and contrasted emotions 'Hand in the Fire' is about. I wanted them to be my emotional tentacles. "

The dancers and I started the work by improvising to the song in a dance studio in Gothenburg, and we continued the exploration of the movements while recording the video in Oslo. The choreography in the video is improvised."

Included in Songs 2013-2023, 'Hand In The Fire' is accompanied by some of Ane's recent works, like tracks from her stunning albums After the Great Storm and How Beauty Holds The Hand of Sorrow.

Both the song and the new album come from Ane Brun's label, Balloon Ranger Recordings. Songs 2013-2023 is now available online and in physical forms such as CD and LP. Following the compilation's release, Ane has a 20th Anniversary tour planned across Europe, where she'll introduce her seraphic and mesmerising voice to audiences old and new.
