All That Glitters
German double act MRI understand that it's necessary to retain the core ideals of this sound as well as adding some new, unexpected elements
Like the new electro movement, the increased popularity of German house music has seen a more mainstream version of this sound appear. Like Thomas Brinkmann’s recent ‘Soul Center’ album, German double act MRI understand that it’s necessary to retain the core ideals of this sound as well as adding some new, unexpected elements.
Therefore, ‘Tied To The ’80s’ features a string led disco sample and the title track boasts a sexy swagger. However, the duo haven’t forgotten their roots either, and the stripped down arrangements on ‘Next Step’ and the atmospheric ‘Amethyst Pop Stars’ show they haven’t lost contact with the concepts that made this music so alluring in the first place.
