Alcachofa
Alcachofa also shows he uses a broader range of sources than the Basic Channel copyists.
German producer Ricardo Villalobos is the most important name in minimal house - through a series of stripped down releases. However, while his contemporaries adhere to a rigid sensibility, Villalobos’ music is looser, more organic. Alcachofa also shows he uses a broader range of sources than the Basic Channel copyists. ‘Fools Garden’ is a paean to melodic electronica, the snaking, chiming ‘Waiworinao’ looks to his Chilean background for seductive Latino rhythms, he relives the 303 sound on ‘I Try To Live’, while ‘Easy Lee’ and ‘YGH’ are low slung electronic club tracks. House music doesn’t get much better than this.
