The singer will play her first show back in Ireland on July 4 at Hibernacle in Dublin
Áine Tyrrell has released a live video for her new track 'Singing Our Way Home,' as she is set to return to Ireland after ten years living in Australia.
The track, which premiered today, was recorded live and features artist Leah Manaema Avene. Tyrrell describes the song as "medicine and weapon," created "for anyone who’s ever been exiled from the place that names them and anyone trying to find their way back."
Reflecting on the song’s creation, the singer explains it was born not in a studio but "in a room full of kids, dogs, teacups, and open hearts," adding, "Motherhood is poetry. It is song. It is art. It is home."
'Singing Our Way Home' offers a preview of her upcoming album MISE ÉIRE, due for release in October. Inspired by a message from the late Sinéad O’Connor, the album is described as a testament to "survival, sovereignty, and song," and pays homage to the resilience of women, the memory of land and Ireland’s global diaspora.
Tyrrell, who has spent the past decade in Northern Rivers, Australia, is returning home following years marked by personal and professional challenges. She says that floods and cyclones in the region caused her displacement and loss, and that she recently she received targeted harassment from local residents stemming from her advocacy for Palestine.

Born in Galway to a musical family, she is the daughter of the late troubadour Seán Tyrrell. She grew up in America for several years before returning to Ireland. A multi-instrumentalist known for her unique voice, in 2021 she was chosen by President Michael D. Higgins in a tribute celebrating Irish women artists.
"When I left Ireland, I never imagined it would take a decade to return," she explained.
"Life gave my children and I some big chapters to walk through and heal from before I could choose an empowered path home. Re-rooting after the uprooting of emigration is not easy. Emigration has been our history, but I’m rewriting that story now. Paving something new," she added.
Tyrrell will embark on a farewell tour in Australia in June before playing her first gig back in Ireland on July 4.
