Action Bronson Announces Gig at The Academy
The 28 year old New York rapper will be playing The Academy Tuesday 23 July.
Born Ariyan Arslani, Action Bronson grew up in Forest Hills, Queens, the son of an Albanian immigrant father and a Jewish mother from Brooklyn. It was in the family restaurant that Action Bronson developed his enduring fascination with quality eating. After studying in the Art Institute of New York’s culinary program, he took jobs ranging from busboy to sous chef.
But when a broken leg forced him out of the kitchen, Bronson pivoted to hip-hop music. Consequently, songs in his discography often read like menu items: 'Roasted Bone Marrow', 'Jerk Chicken', 'Ceviche'. His debut album Dr. Lecter was released in 2011. His second studio album Mr. Wonderful was released in 2015, receiving critical acclaim from Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, and more, and debuting at #7 on the Billboard 200.
In March 2016, Bronson branched into cable television, hosting Viceland show F*ck, That’s Delicious. Marrying his passion for food and music, each episode is an immersive culinary adventure documenting Bronson’s globe-trotting lifestyle and exquisite palette. The third season aired this fall. Bronson's most recent studio album White Bronco dropped last November, and he is currently touring in support of the album.
Catch Action Bronson in Dublin on Tuesday 23, July at The Academy. Tickets cost €42.50 and go on sale Friday 5 April at 10am from Ticketmaster.
