World's major film festivals team up for YouTube Event
The online festival will feature events from Toronto, Cannes, Berlin and Venice film festivals.
The We Are One: Global Film Festival will take place on YouTube, beginning on May 29th. The Coronavirus crisis has caused many international film festivals to press pause (no pun intended), and the film industry at large to essentially halt.
The festival is going to help raise funds for the WHO's Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund. Twenty festivals from all around the globe will take part, including Sundance, Tribeca (which was co-founded by Robert De Niro), Toronto International Film Festival, BFI London Film Festival, Jerusalem Film Festival, Marrakech International Film Festival and Mumbai Film Festival.
They hope it "unites curators, artists and storytellers to entertain and provide relief to audiences worldwide". The event will be free, and will include shorts, films, comedy, conversations and much more. A full schedule will be released closer to the event start date.
