Trailer released for new Belfast-set rom-com series The Lovers
The Lovers will air on Sky Atlantic and NOW, and stars Roisin Gallagher and Johnny Flynn.
A new trailer was released for Sky Atlantic's newest romantic comedy series, The Lovers. The series premieres on Sky Atlantic and NOW on Thursday 7 September, and stars Irish actor Roisin Gallagher and Johnny Flynn in the lead roles.
The series centres around a Belfast supermarket worker (Gallagher) who "couldn't give a s*** about anything much at all, including her life." She meets successful London political broadcaster Seamus (Flynn), who has a perfect life, with a high-profile job and a celebrity girlfriend. So, it's no wonder the two clash- and yet, they "find themselves inextricably drawn to each other."
The series is written by playwright David Ireland and directed by Justin Martin. Producing credit goes to Drama Republic in association with Sky Studios, as well as to Coldplay's Chris Martin.
Born in Northern Ireland, Roisin Gallagher is perhaps known best for her role in last year's RTE drama The Dry alongside Ciaran Hinds, or for her role in The Fall. Her co-star Johnny Flynn, also an accomplished musician with his band Johnny Flynn and the Sussex Wit, has seen acclaim for his roles in Emma (2020) and the Channel 4 sitcom Lovesick.
Also featured in the show are Conleth Hill as Janet's supermarket boss, and Alice Eve as Frankie, Seamus' girlfriend.
