Watch the trailer below
Netflix have released the trailer for the third season of Squid Game.
The final instalment of one of Netflix’s most popular shows is set to premiere on June 27 and will pick up from Season 2’s cliffhanger ending. The short clip — which has already garnered millions of views worldwide — opens up with guards carrying a black coffin with the show’s protagonist Gi-hun (Player 456) inside.
As Gi-hun awakens, a new game is revealed, involving a sweet machine that spits out red and blue balls. The final moments of the trailer echo with the eerie cries of a mysterious baby.
Season 3 sees many familiar faces return including detective Hwang Jun-ho and players Myung-gi (Player333) Dae-ho (Player 388).
The South Korean series became a global phenomenon when its first season released in 2021, becoming the most watched show in 94 countries and Netflix's most watched original series with 265.2 million views. Season 2 also saw similar success as it broke the record for most views for any show in its premiere week.
The final season will be once again directed by its creator Hwang Dong-hyuk, who made history at the Emmys in 2022, becoming the first Asian to win Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series.
