J. Cole drops much-anticipated Applying Pressure: The Off-Season documentary
'Applying Pressure' will premiere on YouTube just four days before J. Cole's new LP The Off-Season drops.
Acclaimed hip-hop star J. Cole has released his first documentary on the making of his latest album, titled Applying Pressure: The Off-Season.
Applying Pressure is a behind-the-scenes insight into the making the rap icon's forthcoming album, The Off-Season - scheduled for release on May 14th. The LP will be the highly-anticipated follow-up to 2018's KOD.
Cole made the announcement on Twitter yesterday alongside a teaser trailer following the release of his latest single, ‘interlude’, on May 7th.

Cole produced the track with T-Minus and T. Parker. 'interlude' features as part of the trailer's background theme, showcasing clips of Cole in the studio and playing basketball.
“This is the moment that a lot of your favourite rappers hit a crossroad,” he says in a voiceover. “Are you OK with getting comfortable if you leave no stone unturned creatively? I thought a lot about that – ‘Nah, I’m not cool with that’.”
Applying Pressure is directed by Scott Lazer, who worked with Cole on videos for previous singles 'Kevin’s Heart', 'ATM' and the 2017 documentary, 4 Your Eyez Only.
Late last year, Cole mapped out a pathway for what he nicknamed “The Fall Off Era”, noting The Off-Season being followed by a project called It’s A Boy, concluding with The Fall Off.
