Irish Women in Harmony perform 'Hallelujah' on RTÉ's The Busk - A Decade on Grafton Street
Aired on RTÉ One, special live performances and a recap of some of the most memorable moments from the busk over the past ten years featured as part of the Collective Films project.
Irish Women in Harmony performed a stunning cover of 'Hallelujah' on December 22 from St Patrick's Cathedral as part of a brand new documentary, The Busk - A Decade on Grafton Street.
Raising much-needed funds for Simon Communities, the new Glen Hansard-presented documentary came after the Late Late Show last Friday also used its platform to contribute to the beloved charity.
Irish Women in Harmony have had a busy year, as a project created initially to highlight the incredible talent of women in the Irish industry, as well as to raise awareness for important social causes such as domestic violence and abuse. 39 musicians came together to cover The Cranberries' 'Dreams', in aid of Safe Ireland in June and raised an astonishing €215,000.
Taking part in the 'Hallelujah' performance was Tolü Makay, RuthAnne, Ailbhe Reddy, Erica Cody, Fia Moon, Eve Belle, Aimée, Emma Langford, Sibéal, Melina Malone, Moya Brennan and Stephanie Rainey. With rich and spine-tingling harmonies and a gorgeously intimate church setting; it's a cover not to be missed.
Over the course of 2020, the collective has consisted of founder RuthAnne (Cunningham), Ailbhe Reddy, Aimée, Áine Cahill, Allie Sherlock, Caroline Corr, Elaine Mai, Emma Langford, Erica Cody, Eve Belle, Faye O'Rourke (Soda Blonde), Fia Moon, Imelda May, Laoise, Lilla Vargen, Lisa Hannigan, Loah, Lyra, Melina Malone, Moya Brennan, Niamh Farrell, Orla Gartland, Pillow Queens, Roe, Róisín O, Saint Sister, Sibéal, Soulé, Stephanie Rainey, Tolü Makay, Una Healy, Wyvern Lingo, Aoife Dennedy, Louize Carroll, Lucia McPartlin, Maria O'Connor, Maria Ryan, Sarah Lynch and Theodora Byrne.
As the group grows, they hope to continue to support charities that are close to their hearts. With the release of their recent single ‘Together At Christmas,’ the group hoped to raise awareness for ISPCC Childline, who are in desperate need of funding at this time.
