Genevieve O'Reilly among lead cast announced for Netflix series Feral
Feral is an adaptation of Shirley Conran's 1987 novel Savages.
Irish actress Genevieve O'Reilly has been announced as a lead in the new Netflix thriller Feral. She will play alongside Michelle Dockery (Downtown Abbey), Jessica Gunning (Baby Reindeer), and Quintessa Swindell (Prime Target). Triangle of Sadness actress Dolly de Leon has also been announced as a supporting cast member.
The series is based on Shirley Conran's best-selling 1987 novel, Savages. It follows four wives who accompany their mining executive husbands on a corporate holiday to a tropical island that is hiding a dark secret. When their husband's deals land them in danger, they are forced to fend for themselves in the island's jungle.
Feral is written by Jude Mack, and will be directed by Emma Freeman.
Executive producers include Liza Marshall and Bria Thomas for Hera Pictures, Jude Mack, Emma Freeman, Hamish Lewis and David Belshaw for Warner Bros. International Television Production. Laurie Borg serves as series producer.
Hera Pictures, in assocation with Warner Bros. International Television Production, is the production company for the programme.
Jude Mack shared their thoughts on the upcoming show in a statement:
"Feral is a wild, messy journey of self-discovery and it’s a complete dream to be carrying Shirley Conran’s torch alongside Hera and Netflix.
"I can’t wait for people to meet these funny, brutal, bold women. I’m obsessed with them and hope audiences will be too."
O'Reilly is known for her portrayal of Mon Mothma in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Andor. Her other credits include The Matrix Reloaded, The Matrix Revolutions, and The Fall. She also starred in the Netflix series My Brilliant Career, which premiered in August.
Filming for Feral begins in Australia later this year.
