First look images released for upcoming Carrie series
Stephen King's 1974 novel will be adapted into an eight episode series this Autumn.
Prime Video has released first look images from the upcoming horror mini-series Carrie.
Premiering in Autumn, the series is based on Stephen King's 1974 debut novel and tells the story of Carrie White, the telekinetic teenage outcast, over the course of eight episodes. The central conflict begins with a humiliating incident at school, after which Carrie discovers she has supernatural powers. The show puts a contemporary spin on a horror classic by linking the traditional themes to the modern day tensions of public high school.
An extensive search took place for the casting of Carrie, which saw over 1,000 actors audition, with Summer Howell ultimately cast in the titular role.
Also joining the cast ensemble are Samantha Sloyan (The Pitt) as Margaret White, Siena Agudong (Resident Evil) as Sue Snell, Alison Thornton as Chris Hargensen, Joel Oulette as Tommy Ross, Josie Tota as Tina, Arthur Conti as Billy, Thalia Dudek as Emaline, Amber Midthunder as Miss Desjardin, and Matthew Lillard as Principal Grayle.
Carrie has been adapted by Mike Flanagan (Midnight Mass, The Haunting of Hill House), who serves as the showrunner on the supernatural series, with Stephen King on board as an executive producer.
The novel spent 14 weeks on The New York Times Bestseller list and been translated into more than 35 languages. The 1976 film adaptation of the novel by Brian De Palma marked its 50th anniversary this year.
