Derry Girls share self-isolation advice
l-r: James Maguire (Dylan Llewellyn), Michelle Mallon (Jamie-Lee O'Donnell), Erin Quinn (Saoirse Jackson), Orla McCool (Louisa Harland), Clare Devlin (NIcola Coughlan),
"Family, but also Coco Pops".
A time capsule video from 1996 has been unearthed in Derry, Northern Ireland, and posted to Channel 4's Twitter page.
Two teens, named Erin Quinn and Orla McCool, filmed their own account of isolation in uncertain times. "The year is 1996 and we're speaking from Derry, Northern Ireland," Quinn begins, before continuing "peace negotiations have broken down, and mass rioting engulfs our streets." She then goes on to explain their fool-proof method for staying safe, which we have outlined here.
- Build a bunker (your mammy's wardrobe will do).
- Be sure to record your experience for future historians.
- Make sure your parents are downstairs watching "Family Fortunes".
- When you're free, be prepared to look at the world with new eyes.
- And finally: get yourself a nice wee bowl of Coco Pops.
