Wheatus To Play The Grand Social

To celebrate their debut album turning 17 years old this year, Wheatus will play an intimate set at The Grand Social on Thursday, November 29th.

The American rock group from Brooklyn originally formed in 1995 and has released five studio albums to date.

The band's latest release was in 2013 with The Valentine LP, self-described as "a set of post-apocalyptic love songs" by frontman Brendan B Brown.

Their song "Teenage Dirtbag" is easily one of the biggest tracks of the noughties, perfectly encapsulating the awkwardness of adolescence and when played today, a welcome sense of nostalgia. The coming of age anthem reached No.2 on the Irish charts and has enjoyed iconic status ever since its release, selling 5 million copies worldwide as of 2014. It also featured in the movie Loser, the HBO series Generation Kill and Netflix Original series Girlboss.

US singer Iggy Azalea recently performed the anthem on the popular show Lip Sync Battle.

Wheatus continue to sell out venues across the world, and, while their newer material may not have the same play-count, the band continues to showcase the talent and songwriting capability that made the band famous. Over the years Brendan B. Brown, the founding member of Wheatus, has managed to maintain the singularity of his vision for the band, contributing to their enduring status since they formed 23 years ago.
