West Cork Podcast Announced as First Event of Cork Podcast Festival 2019
Murder Mystery in West Cork
From Friday 11 to Sunday 13 October 2019 the first ever Cork Podcast Festival will take place. Now the organisers announced the first event for the inaugural festival: West Cork Podcast will deliver a chilling live show in the Cork Opera House on Saturday.
West Cork will certainly attract a fair amount of people, being named as one of Time Magazine's top 50 favourite podcasts. The series deals with the real-life murder mystery of Sophie Toscan du Plantier who was killed in winter 1996. The case is still not solved today which caused investigative journalist Sam Bungey and documentarian Jennifer Forde to get to the bottom of the murder in their podcast.
The two creators of the podcast series will take the stage in the Cork Opera House and tell behind the scenes stories about their gripping hunt for answers. "After 22 years there has finally been a criminal trial over Sophie's murder, but it was no ordinary trial and it's not all clear what it will lead to. We'll be talking about what that trial means, along with other developments, as we gather research for new episodes", Sam Bungey explains.
Tickets for the inaugural Cork Podcast Festival 2019 will be on sale on the 12th of July at 10 am and will cost €26.50 plus booking fee. The rest of the line-up will be announced in the next few weeks.
