Track Of The Day: Joshua Burnside – 'Whiskey Whiskey'
'Whiskey Whiskey' blends wonderful lyricism with Burnside's unique brand of folk.
Joshua Burnside is quickly becoming a household name in the world of Irish folk. His 2017 album EPHRATA, while atypical for the genre, was nothing short of brilliant. Today he has released his latest single, 'Whiskey Whiskey'.
The track blends gentle, lo-fi electronic influence into Burnside's signature acoustic guitar, which sits underneath an exquisite melody. Burnside wrote 'Whiskey Whiskey' on a flight from London, while attempting to deal with his fear of flying "in a more productive way" than drinking. The song is "about coming to terms with our own mortality and striving to find meaning", the Belfast native says.
If you have a few quid to spare, consider supporting Joshua by purchasing 'Whiskey Whiskey' on Bandcamp.
