Tech Review: Civilization VI Gathering Storm
Gathering Storm adds a compelling twist to Civilization, a world-building strategy series on the go since the Õ90s. Players chart a civilization from the Stone Age era through to the future.
This expansion pack incorporates climate change as part of the equation. Players have to consider the effects of CO2 emissions on the world they create, prioritising energy choices as much as technological, social and political ones.
Splurge on fossil fuels and you risk creating rising sea levels, droughts and disasters, devastating coastal cities in the process. This game includes a future era, in which players search for methods to combat the impact of climate change. ThereÕs even a fictional World Congress, which addresses issues such as deforestation and humanitarian aid.
Simultaneously fun, educational and bloody terrifying, it brings a sober reality to gaming.
