Stephen Rea to narrate Ocean Child
Tickets are on-sale now and can be found below.
Oscar-nominated actor Stephen Rea is set to narrate Ocean Child at the Irish Cultural Centre in London November 8-9.
The event is part of the centre's 30th anniversary programme.
Ocean Child, inspired by the sinking of the RMS Tayleur in 1854, will feature contemporary classical music and Irish traditional music performed by the West Ocean String Quartet.
The music will be accompanied by Rea's poetic narration as he takes on the role of the Ocean Child, "a poetic creation evoking themes of memory, exile, and the vast power of the sea," according to a statement.
“Ocean Child encapsulates everything the ICC stands for: artistic excellence, cross-cultural dialogue, and a commitment to work that transcends cultural and disciplinary boundaries,” said William Foote, Centre Director at the ICC.
“We are immensely excited to host this spectacular show here in Hammersmith.”
The November dates are currently the only scheduled Ocean Child performances.
