Richard Harris exhibition now open at Hunt Museum
Items including the crown Richard Harris wore in Camelot are now on display.
A new exhibit Richard Harris: Role of a Lifetime has opened at the Hunt Museum, Limerick.
The exhibition, "brings together personal letters, annotated scripts, rare photographs, poetry, and memorabilia that have never before been on display," according to a statement.
An award-winning Irish actor, Harris. He had roles in film such as This Sporting Life, Camelot, Gladiator, Unforgiven and the first two Harry Potter films.
“This exhibition is a celebration, not only of Richard Harris the actor, but of the man — the Limerick native, the poet, the rebel, the rugby lover,” said Teresa Crowley, CEO of the Hunt Museum.
Role of a Lifetime highlights items such as the crown Harris wore in Camelot, a ruby jersey that he owned and film footage the Harris family.
His sons Damian, Jared and Jamie Harris were in attendance at the official opening of their father's exhibit. "This exhibition gives people a sense of the depth and humour behind the public image. It means a lot to us to see it begin here, in Limerick," said Damian, Jared and Jamie Harris, speaking about their father.
The exhibit will be open until November 16 and tickets are on sale now.
There will also be a screening of The Ghost of Richard Harris at the Belltable, Limerick on Friday July 4 at 6p.m. tickets are available here.
