PREMIERE: YURN shares stunning remix of Pine The Pilcrow's 'If It's True'

A week shy of the full release of his debut EP, Hot Press is delighted to premiere 'If It's True', YURN's Pine The Pilcrow remix.

Better known as ex-Gypsies on The Autobahn frontman James Smith, YURN has been producing and mixing music for some of Ireland's best musicians for years.

Highlighting the original track's delicate piano riff with cavernous, ambient house production, YURN favours the song's darker elements. "I sat at the keyboard, played it over and over and was transported somewhere," he says.

"I think that remixes should be responsive to the song. Pine the Pilcrows' song was so very different to 'D.A.R.L.I.N.G.' and 'My Whole Heart'. I’m always conscious of the pace of a song, but no matter how I played it, it never felt right to speed it up to something more conventional. I wanted to stay true to the emotion that had grabbed me so much at the beginning."
